 Full CAD Model of the New Bodywork for the Gold Crown Championship Car |

Gold Crown Championship Series Development Ashmore Design was contracted by the Owners Group to develop the new car for the Gold Crown Championship race car series. The new car is based on the USAC New Generation Silver Crown car which raced in 2006-07. The new car has undergone several mechanical design changes to achieve the 100 percent reliability standard the owners group were seeking. These changes also allow the car to run on road course tracks along with geometry changes needed to switch to the Goodyear radial tires. The most significant update to the car is the looks to the bodywork. The styling, design and body engineering has been accomplished on the Ashmore Design CAD solid model and surface system to great effect. Ten body panel patterns were Computer Aided Machined, CAM, and then molded by Five Star Racing Car Bodies in Wisconsin. A successful on track demonstration of the new car was organized at Toledo Speedway on Saturday October 16 during the USAC race event. Testing will now commence in 2011 with racing starting in 2012. The new body profile along with quality of fit and finish is pantamount to the type of work that Ashmore Design is known for. This shows a glimpse of the capabilities of the company.
